Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a global organization of young active citizens who are committed to creating positive change in their communities. JCI develops the leadership and entrepreneurial skills of young people, empowering them to create positive change. With members in more than 120 countries and territories, JCI is a powerful network of young active citizens making a difference in the world.

JCI is a nonprofit organization of young active citizens age 18 to 40 who are engaged and committed to creating impact in their communities. Active citizens are individuals invested in the future of our world. JCI gathers active citizens from all sectors of society. We develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to make informed decisions and take action.

JCI is in short, an organization that allows youth to learn and grow, to also network through the internationalism arm, run businesses and community work together and grow as young leaders.

What does Junior Chamber International do?

JCI provides leadership training and development programs that empower young people to create positive change in their communities. JCI also recognizes the achievements of young people through its awards programs.


Some of JCI’s flagship programs include:


-The JCI Senate program, which recognizes outstanding young leaders who have made significant contributions to their communities;


-The JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World program, which recognizes ten young people under the age of 40 who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and impact in their respective fields;


-The JCI Active Citizens program, which equips young people with the skills and resources they need to create positive change in their communities;


-The JCI Entrepreneurial Spirit Awards, which recognize young entrepreneurs who are making a positive impact in their communities;

What are the benefits of being a member of Junior Chamber International?


As a member of JCI, you will have access to a global network of young active citizens who are committed to making a difference in the world. You will also have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills, social responsibility and entrepreneurship through JCI’s training and development programs. Additionally, you will be able to participate in JCI’s awards programs and be recognized for your achievements.


How can I join Junior Chamber International?


You can join JCI by becoming a member of a local JCI chapter in your community. For example to join JCI Marina, simply contact the chapter president or membership director and they will be able to assist you in joining. 


What is the structure of Junior Chamber International?


Junior Chamber International is made up of five levels: local chapters, national organizations, area organizations, the JCI World Headquarters and the JCI Foundation.


Local chapters are the foundation of JCI. https://www.jcimarina.cc/ is an example of a local chapter. There are more than 5,000 local JCI chapters around the world. Chapters are led by a president and a board of directors. Chapters carry out JCI’s programs and activities at the local level.


National organizations such as JCI Singapore are composed of all the local chapters in a country. National organizations are led by a president and a board of directors. National organizations carry out JCI’s programs and activities at the national level.


Area organizations are composed of all the national organizations in a region. There are six JCI areas: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, and North America. Area organizations are led by a president and a board of directors. Area organizations carry out JCI’s programs and activities at the regional level.


The JCI World Headquarters is the secretariat of JCI. The World Headquarters is responsible for providing support to JCI’s members and national organizations around the world. The World Headquarters is led by a CEO and a team of professionals who work to advance JCI’s mission and vision.


The JCI Foundation is the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of JCI. The Foundation provides financial support to JCI’s programs and activities. The Foundation is led by a Board of Trustees.


What are JCI’s core values?


The core values of JCI are Leadership, Responsibility, Cooperation and Progress.


Leadership: JCI members are leaders in their communities. They take on challenging projects and make a positive impact in the world.


Responsibility: JCI members are responsible citizens. They work to make their communities better places to live, work and play.


Cooperation: JCI members cooperate with others to get things done. They work together to create positive change in the world.


Progress: JCI members believe in progress. They work to build a better tomorrow for themselves and for future generations.


What are JCI’s programs and activities?


JCI’s programs and activities are designed to help members develop their leadership skills, social responsibility and entrepreneurship. JCI’s signature programs include the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP) program, the JCI Active Citizen Framework and the JCI Senate.


The TOYP program recognizes young people who have made significant contributions to their communities. The program is open to all young people between the ages of 18 and 40.


The JCI Active Citizen Framework is a tool that helps members plan, implement and evaluate projects that make a positive impact in their communities. The framework consists of four components: community assessment, project planning, project implementation and project evaluation.


The JCI Senate is an organization of JCI members who have been active in their local chapters for at least five years. Senators work to promote JCI’s programs and activities and to provide mentorship to younger members.


What is the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP) program?


The TOYP program recognizes young people who have made significant contributions to their communities. The program is open to all young people between the ages of 18 and 40. Each year, JCI chapters around the world nominate young people for the TOYP award. A panel of judges selects 10 winners from each region. The regional winners are then nominated for the JCI World TOYP award. The JCI World TOYP award is given to the young person who has made the most significant contribution to their community.


What is the JCI Active Citizen Framework?


The JCI Active Citizen Framework is a tool that helps members plan, implement and evaluate projects that make a positive impact in their communities. The framework consists of four components: community assessment, project planning, project implementation and project evaluation.


The community assessment component helps members identify the needs of their communities. The project planning component helps members develop objectives and action plans for their projects. The project implementation component helps members implement their projects. And the project evaluation component helps members evaluate the impact of their projects.


What is the JCI Senate?


The JCI Senate is an organization of JCI members who have been active in their local chapters for at least five years. Senators work to promote JCI’s programs and activities and to provide mentorship to younger members.

What are the membership requirements for JCI?


To be a member of Junior Chamber International, you must be between the ages of 18 and 40. You must also be committed to making a positive impact in your community.
